"Somewhere along the line, [staying at Central High] became an obligation. I realized that what we were doing was not for ourselves" --Elizabeth Eckford, one of the "Little Rock Nine"
As the Little Rock Nine continued to fight for the African American communities rights, there were still many problems with segregation. Along side the leaders such as Martin Luther King Jr., Malcolm X and various of pro desegregating groups the fight continued. Many white supremacy lashed out against African Americans and their doings causing much controversy as well as obstacles for blacks civil rights. As time passed the strive grew strong but unfortunately so did the obscenities. During this time desegregation was top priority in the African American community, they had gone generations with being stuck in slavery and torment from the White culture. Different attempts towards glorifying their rights occurred such as Martin Luther King Jr.'s walk of freedom. With different attempts of justice many were brutality beaten, abused and arrested. Desegregation wasn't something that happened over night, it was a century worth of battle.
